This Shabby Chic Outer Banks Wedding was truly a perfectly put together event.  From the hand-painted chandeliers to the rose colored bridesmaid's dresses, everything about the day was beautiful.  The beautiful gardens of Duck, North Carolina's Saltaire House provided the perfect setting for the southern elegance of this wedding.  Meredith and I had a blast working with Chris, Carly, and the rest of the 15 East Carolina University graduates that made-up the wedding party...yes, count them!  15 amazing young men and women chugged purple concoctions, ate purple cake, and stood to support this adorable couple on their wedding day.

I don't typically show entire wedding albums...but I thought it would be a fun way for you to take a look at this wedding.  And, will give others a peek at what our albums look like!!

I could never pick a "favorite wedding."  Having said that, the grace, kindness, and genuine southern charm exhibited by this fine group of young women and men places this wedding somewhere at the top!  Thank you, Carly, Chris, friends and family for allowing us to be a part of your big day.

Heeeellllooo!!  And, Happy New Year from all of us at Sarah Kimmel Photography. 

It has been a LONG time..yes, way TOO long since I've posted here on the blog.  My only excuse... staying busy with each of you!  We had an amazing 2012!  Many, many thanks to each of you for the memories and laughs we had the opportunity to share with you. 

One quick announcement for Sarah Kimmel Photography 2013... Sarah Kimmel Photography has been selected for the second year in a row to be part of the Outer Banks Wedding Association Dream Wedding Team!!  We are thrilled to be part of this amazing package and look forward to the announcing of the winner!

As we approach the Outer Banks Wedding Association Wedding Expo and Dream Wedding give-away, I promise to do a little more posting of the real weddings and family beach portraits we've shared over the past year.  But, in the meantime I thought it would be fun to share a few of our Sarah Kimmel Photography Team "Out-takes" from 2012.  While we are all business when the cameras are clicking, some of these images go to show that do have a little fun, sweat, and yes...will get down in the sand for the perfect shot.  So don't laugh too hard, but laugh a little at our silly, remarkable team. This 2012 Senior was super sweet...and so was her best bud and both parents that came along!!  It was quite the team effort :) 

After having to reschedule due to rain, we started this shoot in the very warm, sunny morning at the Whalehead Club, Corolla, North Carolina. And finished with beach portraits just across the street. 

Thank you for the time you shared with me!  Oh, and for being willing to get in the still-very-cold ocean!!  Best of luck in the upcoming year!  We are cheering you on!!

Shelley & Jake | Sarah Kimmel Photography | Elizabethan Gardens | Pirates Cove

Every wedding has its way of taking a special place in my heart.  This sweet wedding was no different...accept at Shelley and Jake's reception I actually cried. 

Everything seemed perfect. From the bride's red shoes and amazing smile to the groom's even manner and gentle nature, this day was wrapped in love.  I enjoyed every moment I captured through my lens.  In fact everyone beamed with smiles all day long.  Until the sweetest thing happened...

As the father-of-the-bride began his well thought out, written toast to his daughter and son-in-law, he could not speak.  He tried several times to push back the tears and give his loving speech, but he could not.  As the mother-of-the-bride took her husband's hand and together they stood there as she read his toast through the microphone, I (along with many others) was brought to tears.  I don't believe it was the actual words that stirred in me emotion, but the energy I felt from that Daddy as he looked at his little girl-all grown up.  It was a reminder that life moves quickly, children grow-up, and parents love no matter the age.

From the moment this bride and groom walked into my studio during our first bridal meeting I was in love.  This couple showed the joy of the wedding they were planning in everything - the way they spoke, looked at one another, and exchanged smiles and glances. These two had shared life together and were looking at an exciting future.  I enjoyed my time with Josi and Trip and was thrilled to receive the "we'd like you to be our wedding photographer"phone call.

It was no surprise that their wedding day was just as glorious as this couple! The day was beautiful, friends and family were a blast, and the flower girl was a doll!!
